Its far from Monday morning, baby buds

I know it's far from Monday morning but it's still Monday at this point. The past few weeks have been very busy for me. And this weekend was no exception I had a baby shower for Clipie's niece Raven. Raven is a beautiful strong intelligent young woman. She is a nurse and works in an icu step down unit, she is also a wife and now mother. Her husband Johnathan is currently at sea so he has not seen or held their beautiful baby boy named Talon Zander, who was born in late May. He is a very good baby, in fact Talon let me hold him for quite a bit on Saturday and on Sunday too. Sunday he was in good spirits at the baby shower.
The baby shower went well and we had no problems except a butt ugly cake. I typically always order my cakes from Sam's club because they always do a great job. Not this time, it looked like a CRAZED clown made it! When I went to pick it up they had lost my order! They offered to make a new one, I said make it easy, make it JUST LIKE THE EXAMPLE IN THE BOOK with baby blue flowers.
Now I ask all of you does this look like baby blue flowers?
Does this look like light green trim?
Does not the yellow on the cake make the baby look like he is sitting in a pile of neon yellow poop?
Yes it does my friends yes it does.
So that leads me to the question of the day have any of you ever taken the hobby lobby cake decorating classes? Do you know anyone who has? Are they good?
Cause at this rate I'm going to take classes and I will be making all the cakes my self, cause I know I can match up colors better than this. And no I did not have time to go to another bakery cause it was graduation weekend back home and every bakery was chock full of orders..
Next time I'll get a better cake( probably do it my self) and please let me know if any of you have any cake decorating skills.

Why take that on? You are already complaining about how busy you are why add something else? It isn't that bad, its one cake, give them another try. chelle

Sams usually does a good job, that's a shame that the problem had to be on a shower cake. Did it taste good though? That's the main thing! I don't know about the classes at HL, but if they are the Wilton classes, I think they are all pretty much the same and very good. I would caution against another hobby though...you know how much it costs to start something new!

The cake really doesn't look that bad from the photos. I'm sure the fellowship of everyone far outweighed the look of the cake.
Looks like she had a great time, and I'm sure your efforts were very much appreciated.

If your looking for a cake maker for future events, etc., you might want to give Terri a call.

Hope you had a great visit with family.

I took a class years ago and can tell you straight up....I DO NOT WANT TO DECORATE CAKES!!! The time involved is crazy as well as buying supplies. Also, when people find out you can decorate cakes, they all want them for free. NO CAKE CLASSES FOR ME. djw
